The town of Wellington derives
its name from C. Oliver Wellington who bought what amounted to swamp
land in the early 1950's and established the "Flying Cow Ranch".
With the establishment of drainage and flood control, this land was
turned from swamp to lush farmland. Eventually the land was sold to
developers and the town became a reality. |

Wellington is a planned community
that is associated with equestrian sports. But in the years that followed
its establishment, the population grew and its interests expanded.
Today it is the home to over 40,000 people. |
